The Bell Tents are situated in a serene and relatively untouched area of the estate, where you can immerse yourself in nature. You’ll likely spot herons and egrets soaring by and Mr Kingfisher standing proud surveying the meadow. Watch crane flies dancing in the air, and frogs leaping across the meadows. This is truly a nature lover’s paradise!


What should I know about off-grid camping at Mount Congreve Gardens?

This is a comfortable yet unplugged camping experience, ideal for connecting with nature. The Bell Tents have no electricity or running water, allowing you to enjoy the simplicity of off-grid living while staying cosy and well-equipped.


Essentials to Know

Is electricity available at the Bell Tents?
No traditional power is available, but you’ll have rechargeable lanterns, crank torches, and solar-powered lighting. A cooler is provided to keep food fresh, and you can recharge devices at Mount Congreve House if needed.

How are the tents heated?
Each tent includes a wood-burning stove and hot water bottles. FOXFORD duvets and throws, made from sustainable materials, add extra warmth.

What cooking facilities are provided?

  • A small charcoal BBQ, stove-top kettle, frying pan, and pot.
  • Enamel tableware and utensils are included.

What about water and bathrooms?

  • A 5-litre jerry can of fresh water is provided, with refills available.
  • The nearest toilet is a 2-minute walk, and the shower (located in the Georgian glasshouse) is a 5-minute walk.
  • Towels, toiletries, and washing-up facilities are included.

Where can I park?
The car park is located a 5-minute walk from the tents.

What entertainment options are available?

  • After-hours access to Mount Congreve Gardens.
  • Cycling the Waterford Greenway (bring your own bike or reserve one on-site for up to three hours).
  • A selection of games, books, and battery-powered radios.


What amenities does the Visitor Centre offer?
