Waterford Chamber Music Festival
Enjoy beautiful performances of classical chamber music presented by an outstanding group of chamber musicians, whose work has garnered national and international acclaim. On Friday evening at 7:30pm, the Opening Concert offers a captivating evening of music. The performance begins with Bach’s Cello Suite No. 5, setting a reflective tone with its intricate and expressive movements. This concert also featured the world premiere performance of the WCMF commission by composer Marian Ingoldsby.
On Saturday at 12pm, The Young Artists' Recital features talented sisters Ksennia and Yevlaliia Yershova in a vibrant programme of classical and contemporary works for violin & viola. This concert includes a world premiere by young Cork composer, Milo McCarthy.
On Saturday, at 3pm, experience the uplifting Singing for Wellbeing Choir workshop and garden performance. This joyful event invites audiences to celebrate the power of community and music in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
The Evening Concert on Saturday at 7:30pm features a diverse programme of chamber music, including works by Britten, Ravel, Greg Scanlon and Schumann’s exciting Piano Quartet op. 47, with its dreamily romantic slow movement.
The Closing Concert on Sunday, 27th July at 3pm brings the festival to a graceful and celebratory finale. Featuring a rich blend of chamber music for piano, string quartet, winds, harp and voice, the programme includes works by Mozart, Grandval, and Hahn, and celebrates particularly the chamber works of Maurice Ravel, honouring the 150th anniversary of his birth.
