Join us for a three-day celebration of art over the May Bank Holiday Weekend

2nd – 5th May

Discover new perspectives and gain a deeper appreciation for the connection between art and nature. Engage in conversations with the artists themselves, learning about their inspiration and techniques. Participate in interactive workshops and demonstrations, allowing you to unleash your own creativity and unleash your inner artist.

DAY 1: ‘BUCOLICA’ EXHIBITION WITH INVITED ARTISTS

May 2nd 2024 | 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm | Stables Café | While tickets are free, booking is essential

Join us for the opening event of the ‘Bucolica’ art exhibition, a captivating exploration of the pastoral beauty and the intricate relationship between humans and the natural landscape. This unique exhibition, set in the picturesque Stables Café at Mount Congreve Gardens, brings together artists from across the country to share their interpretations of the bucolic theme.

 

About the Exhibition
‘Bucolica’ challenges and celebrates the concept of the bucolic through diverse artistic lenses. From the tranquil beauty of pastoral landscapes to critical reflections on environmental sustainability, this exhibition offers a multifaceted dialogue about our connection to the natural world. Hosted in the serene environment of Mount Congreve Gardens, the exhibition promises to be a thought-provoking journey through the realms of art, nature, and ecology.
The launch event of ‘Bucolica’ concludes the 3-day Art in the Gardens event, an invitation to rekindle our bond with the natural world through the lens of art.

DAY 2: PAINT-OUT WITH GUEST ARTISTS

May 4th 2024 | 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Part of the 3-day ‘Art in the Gardens’ event, the Paint-out provides access for you to paint in the idyllic setting of the gardens. The following guest artists will be on hand to provide constructive feedback: 

Tony Robinson – Steve Browning – Róisín Curé – Sebastien Thommen – Alan Clarke – Nicola Morrin

You will also have the opportunity to show and sell the work you produce on the day in a pop-up ‘Exhibition on Easels’ and be in for a chance to win a prize.

Who it’s for: Do you have some experience of painting or drawing? Would you like to have the opportunity to create in the grounds of Mount Congreve Gardens, meet other artists, paint alongside experienced guest artists and show the work you create to the visitors of Mount Congreve in a pop-up ‘Exhibition on Easels’? DAY 3: MASTERCLASSES WITH ARTFORM MENTORS

May 5th 2024 | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Part of the 3-day ‘Art in the Gardens’ event, these masterclasses provide artists an opportunity to work in a small group with a leading Irish artist in the idyllic setting of Mount Congreve Gardens.

Who it’s for: Do you have experience of painting or drawing and are looking to expand your practice or artistic horizons? Do you see yourself benefitting from an intense 1-day workshop with one of the artists listed below? If so, this event is for you!
Masterclass mentors
We are delighted to announce that the following renowned artists will deliver the masterclasses: Eamon Colman – Róisín Curé – Julie Cusack – Sinéad Lucey

Each masterclass will take advantage of the garden setting for the day. This may involve walking through the gardens to identify subject matter, foraging for materials to use or drawing or painting on location.
